NQ - NAGAAA Player Rating Questions

The NQ is an expression of a player's capabilities in softball.  The NQs are a series of 28 questions used to assign an objective assessment of skill level to effectively group players.  This system is used for division play in leagues, tournaments, and the Gay Softball World Series.

iPride Softball/NAGAAA, the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (of which WESA is a proud member) uses a set of 28 questions to determine eligibility to play in one of their five divisions (A through E) at GSWS (Gay Softball World Series) and throughout the year in city tournaments around North America. NAGAAA refers to these questions as one's "Player Rating". WESA refers to these questions as "NAGAAA Questions" or “NQs”.

"... NQs offer only a partial glimpse into the most readily quantifiable individual skills and do not offer a complete means of measuring the value one player brings to a team compared to another."
"There are no questions in the system to measure positive attitude, committment to the game, and sportsmanship."

While WESA's focus has been on player experience and not player rating,  as a NAGAAA member organziation, WESA is required to assess an NQ for all members for NAGAAA eligibility.  However, WESA has not historically used the NQs solely to determine eligibility or suitability for a specific division in local league play.  WESA may use a player's NQ to restrict elegibility to play in the entry level division.

NQ results are available to all WESA players if they request it, regardless of whether or not they participate in NAGAAA-sanctioned events. We caution, however, that the NQs offer only a partial glimpse into the most readily quantifiable individual skills and do not offer a complete means of measuring the value one player brings to a team compared to another.  There are no questions in the system to measure positive attitude, committment to the game, and sportsmanship.  Outside of the NAGAAA eligibility system, the usefulness of the NQs can be marginal.

WESA members NQ is determined by the WESA NQ Committee.
