WESA COACH SQUAD
Helping each other play, learn, and belong.

The WESA Coach Squad is a community of members who support teams, grow players, and help shape the league experience.

Whether you’re curious about helping, learning the game, supporting a team, or stepping into a coaching role—there’s a place to begin.

START YOUR JOURNEY

See Yourself In It
There’s no single path into the Coach Squad.  Some members start by volunteering. Others begin by scorekeeping, helping at Field Days, supporting a team, or stepping into a 2nd Coach role.  Coaching in WESA grows through contribution, learning, and experience.

The Coach Squad Journey

Coaching in WESA is something you grow into.

The journey isn’t linear—and it doesn’t look the same for everyone. But there is a common path with observable milestones.

Members grow through experience, mentoring, scorekeeping, volunteering, and leadership—not just attending sessions.

  • Scorekeeping → Support Fair Play
  • Leadership & Team Building → Lead Moments
  • Team Management → Run the Team
  • Coaching the Coach → Grow the Community

How Team Leadership Works in WESA

Each team is supported by a Coaching Pair:

  • Team Manager — head coach
  • 2nd Coach — supporting coach

Together, they support players, manage team needs, and help create a positive, inclusive environment.  New coaches are encouraged to step in. Experienced coaches are expected to support and mentor others.

Additional Assistant Coach - each team is encouraged to take on an additional Assistant Coach to give an opportunity to a team member by assigning responsibilities while being supported by Team Leadership.
