WESA is a volunteer run organization. Everything happens in the league because a volunteer Made It Happen!
2025 Committees will begin their activities soon. Get your ideas heard! Get involved! Please let us know if you are interested in being a part of a WESA Committee by visiting our Volunteering page here.
WESA 2025 COMMITTEES
Where can league members help out? Below is an example of the constant needs of the league and where volunteers are most needed, and in some cases are under way. To get involved contact the Sean at commissioner (at) WESA.net.
WESA 2025 Coach Squad Advisory Group
A few experienced Coach Squad members have volunteered to help develop a training process for new and developing Coaching talent in the league.
WESA 2025 Divisional Structure
For the 2024 Season, members were asked to consider if it was time to split the T1 Division by possibly creating an E Division for Rookies/Novice players. After many months of conversations and submissions from the membership, the Commission believes that the conversations and research have been explored sufficiently to go directly to the 2025 Commission for a decision. More here.
Scorekeeping & Stats
Every team in WESA is responsible for scorekeeping their own games, unless there is a volunteer to help. Not only are there scores to keep track of but individual players stats come into play for the player NQs (ratings). This committee organizes scorekeepers and stats entry for the league. By far, our biggest volunteer needs come from scorekeeping games.
Special Events
Be a part of the planning, launching, and execution of league Special Events such as WESA Socials, WESA Opening Day Party, WESA Welcome Party, WESA Jersey Pick-up Party, WESA Pic-nic in the Park, the WESA Slam! BBQ, the WESA V.I.P. Mixer, and the WESA Pageant.
Equipment & Field Maintenance
Every bin and every diamond/field needs constant attention. The Equipment Commissioner coordinates the resupply of the bins and the maintenance of our bases and gear. And while Vancouver Parks is ultimately responsible for the fields, there is a lot to do to maintain them for our play each week of the season.
Awards Banquet
Every season ends with an Awards Banquet for the Pennant Season including special awards. This committee plans for the event as well as coordinating awards and trophies.
Pacific Cup
The annual Pacific Cup open tournament sees local and visiting teams converge on Vancouver for a fun weekend filled with competition and celebration of gay softball.
Other Committees
Periodically, the league needs members to tackle important issues on committees. Examples include the creation of our Code of Conduct, Member Agreement, and Coaches Contract, as well as our exploration of an Accessibility Policy for members with disabilities.
Volunteers make everything happen in WESA. Put your ideas to use! Get involved. Please let us know your ideas by getting involved as a WESA ViP by submitting the Onlin form located here.
