WESA COMMITTEES

Choose Your Own WESA Experience — Serve, Shape, and Shine

Behind every great WESA season is a group of dedicated volunteers working together to make it all happen. Our committees are where ideas turn into action — where the league’s values come to life through collaboration, creativity, and community spirit.

Joining a committee is one of the most rewarding ways to be a WESA ViP (Volunteer in Pride). It’s your chance to make your mark — to influence how the league grows, evolves, and connects with its members.

Our “Volunteering in Pride” ethos isn’t just about loving the game. It’s about cherishing WESA’s role in fostering connections, promoting inclusion, and ensuring a vibrant future for slo-pitch softball. Through committee work, we honor our league’s rich history while helping chart its next chapter.

Whether you’re drawn to events, communications, membership, or operations — there’s a committee where your skills and perspective matter. Every meeting, every idea, every contribution helps build the WESA experience we all share.

Be part of the team that keeps WESA strong, inclusive, and fun.

MEMBERSHIP

The Membership Committee supports the Commission in keeping our values front and centre while we enjoy competitive play.

Ambassadors
Our members are our best source of gauging what is working.   This proposed program would see members assigned to each division to be there to answers questions for members and report to the Membership Committee any concerns from membership.

Ethics
As a community organization and competitive sports league, there comes a need for some attention to managing conflict and ethics.  This committee recom mends policy and reparative actions for rules and ethics violations.

 ATHLETICS

The Athletics Committee are WESA members who put the playing season together including equipment, fields, game schedule, umpires, team managment, scorekeeping, and tournaments.

WESA Coach Squad
Made up of our Team Managers, 2nd Coaches, and Clinic Lead Coaches, the Coach Squad are the bedrock of our league.

Equipment & Field Maintenance
Every bin and every diamond/field needs constant attention.  The Equipment Commissioner coordinates the resupply of the bins and the maintenance of our bases and gear.   And while Vancouver Parks is ultimately responsible for the fields, there is a lot to do to maintain them for our play each week of the season

Scorekeeping & Stats
Not only are there scores to keep track of but individual players stats come into play for the player skills assessments (SQs).  This committee organizes scorekeepers and stats entry for the league.  By far, our biggest volunteer needs come from scorekeeping games.

Season Scheduling
Taking many priorities into consideration, these members put the season together.

Pacific Cup Tournament
The annual Pacific Cup open tournament sees local and visiting teams converge on Vancouver for a fun weekend filled with competition and celebration of gay softball.

Pride Softball Canada Fierté Committee
Members:  Seán HC (Chair), Peter H, Tommy J, Patrick K

COMPETITION

The Competition Committee are members who are focused on the regulatory aspects of the game; rules, regulations, skills assessments, fair play

Rules & Regulations
Suggest game rules and league policy updates affecting competitive aspects of the league.

SQ Committee
Members of the WESA Coach Squad are enlisted to advise on annual player skills assessments.
Chair: League Commissioner
