SMHA REFEREES DIVISION DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES:

If the Discipline Chairperson determines that you are going to be fined, you will receive a “Notice of Discipline” and a fine amount on your Arbiter Pay Summary.

  • This will outline when and for how much you were fined.

If the Discipline Chairperson determines that you are going to be suspended, you will receive a “Notice of Discipline” via email.

  • This form will outline when and why you were suspended, the duration of your suspension and any other fines that may have occurred leading up or resulting in your suspension.

If you feel there are extenuating circumstances that the Referees Division Committee should know about and you want to appeal the decision of the Head of Discipline, there are a few things you can do:

  • You must submit an appeal in writing by email to the SMHA Referee-in-Chief within 10 days of when you receive a “Notice of Discipline”.
  • When the Discipline Committee receives your appeal, they will investigate and review the original decision as well as consider any new information that you have provided.
    • The Discipline Committee will then decide on whether or not the appeal is valid and also make a decision to:

1.        Leave the fine in place

2.        Reduce the fine or suspension

3.        Eliminate the fine or suspension

  • When this decision is made you will be notified via email.
