2024-2025 Officials' Honorariums - Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association Referees Division:

SMHA officials are paid an honorarium for each game they volunteer their time to assist minor hockey.  Officials only officiate games on days where they make themselves available via the assigning procedures. Officials' honorariums are paid by e-transfer monthly based on the games they officiated the month prior.

SMHA Honorarium Payments:
Officials are paid at the beginning of every month for the previous month’s games.  The Referee Coordinator will run the officials' honorariums on the first business day of the next month.  The honorarium files will then be handed over to the SMHA League Treasurer who will verify the honorarium pay amounts and submit them for interac e-transfer payments.  Once complete, the officials will receive interac e-transfers to the email address listed on their Arbiter accounts (must match this for accounting purposes).  Please note that we do not use and pay for the ArbiterPay feature in Arbiter Sports.

To view your Honoraium Pay Summary each month, go to the Payments tab and a summary of your Honorarium Pay Summary will be there.

Please note that the first or second e-transfer of every season will have $10 deducted as an Association Fee.  This helps to cover expenses such as: officials supervision program, officials mentorship program, interac etransfer costs, Arbiter licenses, ice rentals for development and clinics, referee meeting costs, etc.

If games are cancelled due to weather, rink shutdowns, COVID, etc. or if games are cancelled with more than 24 hours notice, the officials will not be paid an honorarium for these games.  If games are cancelled within 24 hours for reasons that are within the team’s control, or if SMHA makes a mistake and fails to notify the officials about a game being cancelled, the officials will be paid the applicable honorarium for the games.
