SMHA PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE POLICY
Rationale:
Current Hockey Saskatchewan Discipline Regulations provide players with a clean slate with each new season in terms of accumulations of infractions and incidents that lead to suspensions. For nearly all players, this works well. Some players, however, show a pattern of discipline issues in consecutive seasons that SMHA wishes to discourage.
- Progressive discipline may be applied during a player's tenure within a specific age division.
- For example:
- A player's infractions** in season one of U18 are taken into account for season two of U18 and infractions from seasons one and two are taken into account for season three of U18.
- In this example, a player's history in U15 would not follow them into U18.
- ** Applicable infractions that will be considered from previous seasons:
- Major and Match penalties
- 11.2 Game Misconducts and Gross Misconducts
- 11.4 Maltreatment Gross Misconducts
- At the discretion of the SMHA Discipline Committee, supplemental discipline may be added to a player’s suspension based on the discipline history of the player from the previous season(s).
If issued, the additional supplemental discipline will be on top of the main SMHA / Hockey Saskatchewan suspension guidelines and accumulation guidelines.
