Jim McIntyre Cup to be played for annually by the Saskatoon Contacts and Saskatoon Blazers U18AAA teams


Saskatoon Minor Hockey introduced the Jim McIntyre Cup, starting with the 2018-19 season.

The SMHA Jim McIntyre Cup is an annual competition between the Saskatoon Blazers and Saskatoon Contacts U18 AAA hockey teams.

The Cup is named after Jim McIntyre, former President and Governor for the Saskatoon Contacts. Mr. McIntyre, or “Mr. Mac” as he is known by 100’s of players, has been involved with the Saskatoon Contacts for over 38 years.

"SMHA wanted to recognize Mr. McIntyre for his very long-term commitment to Saskatoon hockey players that have played for the Contacts in his time with the “C’s”, said Kelly Boes, Executive Director of the SMHA. Over Jim's tenure with the Contacts, the team won six provincial championships and one Telus Cup National Championship.

“To Mr. Mac, success is developing players on and off the ice to be the best players and best citizens they can be,” said Marc Chartier, former Head Coach of the Contacts.

“The Blazers look forward to competing for the Jim McIntyre Cup every season. I played for Jim on the Contacts and respect his great contribution to minor hockey in Saskatoon,” said Scott Scissons, Head Coach of the Saskatoon Blazers.

The Jim McIntyre Cup will be presented annually following the fourth regular season game between the two teams to the team that earns the most points in the four-game regular season series between the teams.

If the teams are tied in total points for the season after game # 4, there will be a shoot out immediately following Game # 4 of the series.
