Bus Manifest - Mandatory for all SMHA Teams

ALL SMHA TEAMS USING A BUS FOR TEAM TRAVEL ARE REQUIRED TO ADHERE TO THIS POLICY

Effective with the 2021-22 season, all SMHA teams from U7 through U18AAA are required to create and maintain a Bus Manifest for all bus trips taken by their team.

The purpose of the Bus Manifest is to ensure that, for all bus trips taken by SMHA teams, there will always be a person who is not on the bus that is 100% aware of who is on the bus.  Knowing who is on the bus is vital should there ever be an accident.  The 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus crash tragedy was an example of this.  No one who was not on the bus knew exactly who was on the bus.

The process is simple:

- Teams use the SMHA Bus Manifest template to create their own document.  The names of the roster players and coaches can be added well in advance of any bus trips because they will be constants.  This will leave the person in charge of the manifest to just add the names of any additional passengers - affiliates, extra parents, etc.  They can then just cross off the names of any of the core roster players or coaches who are not on the bus.
- Once the team's Bus Manifest is completed, the key next step is to take a photo of the manifest with a cell phone or tablet prior the bus departing and text or email the photo to the team contact who WILL NOT BE ON THE BUS.
