FSS - Parent code of conduct
Fort Saskatchewan Soccer Parent Code of Conduct
At Fort Saskatchewan Soccer (FSS), we recognize that parents play a vital role in the success and sustainability of our programs. Your time, commitment, and encouragement provide players with the opportunity to grow, develop, and enjoy the sport in a supportive environment.
To maintain a safe, fun, and respectful soccer experience, we ask all parents to follow the expectations outlined below:
Respectful Conduct
We ask that you always demonstrate respect for:
- Team Officials – including coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers
- Game Officials – including referees and assistant referees
- Other Spectators
- Rules of the Game – including how they are interpreted and applied by referees
- FSS and Partner Policies – including those from the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (EMSA), Alberta Soccer Association (ASA), and Fort Saskatchewan Minor Sports Association (FSMSA)
Handling Concerns Appropriately
If you have a concern, please:
- Follow the 24-hour cooling-off period before addressing any issues
- Bring your concern to the coaching staff first – especially regarding referee conduct
- If the issue is not resolved after addressing it respectfully with the coach, you may escalate the matter in writing to the FSS President / Governance Director
- Respect the chain of command:
- Coach
- Age Level Director
- FSS President / Governance Director
- EMSA North
- EMSA Main
Failure to follow this chain of command may result in a $500 fine to the organization. If this occurs due to a parent’s actions, the fine will be passed on to that individual.
Team Support & Attendance
- Make every effort to ensure your child attends practices and games
- If your child cannot attend, notify the coaching staff in advance
- You are responsible for the safe transportation and supervision of your child before and after FSS activities
- Enjoy watching the game – but remember, it’s just a game!
Behavior at Games
- Be respectful to all players, teams, spectators, and referees – including the opposing team
- Inappropriate behavior may result in ejection from the game by the referee
* If a spectator is ejected, a $100 fine may be imposed on the organization by EMSA. This fine will be charged to the individual responsible.
Alcohol Consumption
All adult employees, members, and participants of FSS are expected to:
- Manage alcohol consumption responsibly at any FSS-associated social events
- Follow the provincial legal requirements for alcohol consumption based on their current location
Final Reminder
Refusal to adhere to this Parent Code of Conduct may jeopardize your child’s participation with Fort Saskatchewan Soccer. We thank you for your cooperation in creating a positive, respectful, and enjoyable soccer environment for everyone.
