JUNIOR ARSENAL (u5 & u7)

Junior Arsenal Program (U5 & U7)

The Junior Arsenal Program provides a fun and engaging introduction to soccer for our youngest players. Following the Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) and Canada Soccer Grassroots guidelines, the program focuses on physical literacy, skill development, and enjoyment of the game. At this stage, the priority is building confidence, coordination, and a love for soccer while ensuring every child stays active and involved with the ball.

Program Structure

  • No Teams: In keeping with ASA’s Grassroots model, teams are not formed at this age.

  • Activity Stations (U5): Players rotate through four 12–15 minute stations — General Movement, Soccer Technique, Coordination, and Small-Sided Games — to maximize engagement and ball touches.

  • U7 Sessions: Players practice once per week & there is two available days for sessions. Volunteer coaches then build on these drills until the next session.

  • Parent Involvement (U5 & U7): Parents must remain nearby in case the coach requires assistance with their child.

Key Goals

  • Fun First: Ensure children enjoy their experience and look forward to every session.

  • Fundamentals: Develop age-appropriate movement and coordination skills.

  • Confidence & Teamwork: Encourage listening, following direction, and working with others in a supportive environment.

  • Active Learning: Provide plenty of opportunities for ball touches to keep players engaged and growing.
