Coach Selection Policy
Coach Selection committee shall:
(a) Consist of the Jr Coordinator, and 4 other appointed members (2 female and 2 male) as agreed upon by the executive. The appointed 4 individuals must be present at all committee meetings for voting to take place.
(b) When voting for head coaches, any member in direct conflict for that age group will be asked to recuse themselves from any discussions or vote .
(c) The Jr Coordinator will chair the committee and if needed, will be the final and deciding vote.
(d) Coaching Criteria mandatory fields to enter upon registration: Full Name, Birthday, Respect In Sport Number (RIS#), NCCP #, Current level of coaching certification, Address, Select Head or Assistant Coach, Age Group you are applying to coach.
(e) Additional Criteria- the potential coach must have, Criminal background and vulnerable sector check, Results from the parent’s survey (the results can be a factor), Overall good standing with the zone as per bylaws. A list of past coaching experiences (coach resume), A list of other commitments from March to August that may interfere with coaching ball games or practices, A brief coaching plan for your season.
(f) Interview/Information collection process may be done in person, or by electronic means for each head coach applicant by the committee. Review the coach’s coaching philosophy. Review the coach’s plan for tournaments. Review of a coach provided practice plan. Any other questions agreed upon by the committee.
(g) For “A” level Coaches, refer to the “A” team policy. Coaching an “A” team does not guarantee your child a spot on the “A” team.
(h) In situations where the applicant is a non-parent, they will be evaluated and the decision will be at the discretion of the selection committee.
(i) The committee will present their coach selections to the board for final approval.
(j) Head coaches can select the assistant coaches with the approval from the Jr. Coordinator and board executive.
(k) Only Head Coach applicants will be able to watch tryouts. This will be at the discretion of the zone executive. However, they will not be privy to evaluation numbers or names of players.
