Saskatoon Lasers Protective Fielding Mask Policy

Player safety is of the upmost importance to the Saskatoon Lasers Softball organization.  Softballs react differently when they bounce and players can easily lose sight of softballs in the sun.  There have been numerous instances where a softball has caused injury to a player not wearing a protective fielding mask.  Protective fielding masks can help protect minor softball players against major injury.

ALL players in any age category would benefit from wearing a protective fielding mask while playing.

The Saskatoon Lasers Softball organization requires minor softball players registered in the Saskatoon Lasers Zone to wear a protective fielding mask in the following circumstances:

  • In accordance with Softball Saskatchewan rules, pitchers at all age groups, including U17 must wear a protective fielding mask while pitching.

  • Players at all age groups, including U17 must wear a protective fielding mask while playing in the infield.

  • All players, U13 and younger must wear a protective fielding mask while playing any defensive position, infield or outfield.
