Mission Statement:

The Saskatoon Minor Basketball Association (SMBA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing youth basketball programs throughout Saskatoon. Serving young athletes from ages 5 to 18, our programs are open to all skill levels, welcoming participants from Saskatoon and its surrounding areas.

At the heart of our mission is the development of youth through the sport of basketball. We emphasize the principles of Basketball Canada’s guidelines for player development, ensuring that players are learning age-appropriate skills. Our focus is not only on skill development but also on fostering a fun and inclusive environment where every participant can enjoy and grow in the game of basketball.

From our mission, the objectives of the SMBA are to:

• Foster a balanced model of participation and competition, introducing young people to the sport of basketball.
• Focus on the development of individual skills and sportsmanship, enabling young athletes to actively participate and enjoy the sport.
• Develop specific outreach programs targeting new communities and engaging current stakeholders.
• Organize our internal people and processes effectively to ensure financial accountability and sustainability.

The SMBA works closely with the Community Associations in the City of Saskatoon to make basketball accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
