DR WILLIAM L TEW TROPHY FOR LEADERSHIP IN SPORT                                            

Awarded to a returning player who has taken on a leadership role with the team and is expected to continue to be a major team leader in the following year. In 2023 the award was changed to include one offensive player and one defensive player.

Originally donated in 1975 by the team's doctor, Dr. Tew, the trophy was misplaced at the back of a closet by the 1976 recipient Dave Rigg who, in late 2008, brought it back to the team. Dr. Tew passed away in 2018 at the age of 90.
