The Beefeater Team Award for Most Valuable Player has been around since the founding of the team in 1975. In
2018 the Board of Directors decided to add the name Bob Gooder (pictured in his coaching days with the Beefs) to the trophy in honour of a Beefeater and London football legend.
Bob was a very successful high school football coach at Laurier S.S. when he stepped in to save the team after a difficult 1979 season. Bob coached the Beefs for four years and remained involved through much of the 1980's, all the time while also coaching high school at Montcalm S.S.
Bob was the Ontario Football Conference Coach of the Year in 1980 and 1981. In 2022, Bob was inducted into the London Beefeater Hall of Fame in the Coach/Builder Category.
