If you currently have Respect in Sport, it will remain VALID until its expiry. Upon expiry, Shift Forward will replace it
Heading into the 2026-2027 Hockey Canada will be launching The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture, a new learning and development program that is the home for national education and training with courses for coaches & parents/guardians.
The Shift Forward is an enhanced education program that was created following an extensive consultation process with stakeholders in Hockey Canada-sanctioned programs to understand how education and training can better support participants and the key objective of changing unhealthy behaviours in the game.
In an effort to support a successful transition to The Shift Forward, Hockey Canada & Hockey Alberta continue to recognize existing Respect in Sport Certification for the duration of each individual's expiry.
One parent or guardian must complete this 1-hour online program BEFORE registering. Please select MCKNIGHT as your association, not Calgary.
There is a nominal cost to the program.
IMPORTANT NOTICE -- A participant’s registration will be considered “incomplete” if the member does not have a valid expiry date on the Shift Forward or Respect-In-Sport “PARENT” Certificate at the time of the participant's registration.
Includes players starting hockey for the first time.
DOES NOT INCLUDE siblings of currently registered McKnight players. Siblings need to make an ID, see above.
