The London Beefeaters Football Club announces today that Head Coach Matt Snyder has stepped down from his position, effective immediately.
Coach Snyder led the London Beefeaters for the past four seasons in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC), a member of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL).
“We accept Matt’s resignation and want to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for his commitment, hard work, and dedication to the London Beefeaters organization over the last four seasons!
Matt's time with the Beefeaters has been truly historic. From 1980-1983, legendary Coach Bob Gooder set a regular season record that inspired generations of Beefeaters. This season, Coach Snyder surpassed that benchmark with a remarkable 24 wins and 8 losses in regular season play during his tenure. Under his leadership, the Beefeaters also achieved exceptional post-season success, leading the team to 3 OFC Championship appearances in his 4 years as head coach. Furthermore, in serving four seasons, Coach Snyder became a member of an elite group of Beefeaters head coaches - a testament to his leadership, consistency, and dedication. We thank Matt for his service and respect his decision to step away at this time."
Coach Snyder offered the following statement:
“The past 4 seasons as Head Coach of the Beefeaters – the team I once suited up for - have given me the opportunity to work with so many dedicated, hard-working players, coaches and volunteers. People who joined the Beefeaters program purely out of a love of the game. I will always cherish the chance to coach the many players who showed up every night ready to give their full effort and commitment to this proud program. I will always look back at what we accomplished on the field and off it, with great pride.
The decision to step down was not an easy one and I reflected on it for many weeks, but ultimately, with increasing demands in my career, I came to the realization that I could not give to the Beefeaters the full effort that this job demands, and that this program deserves.
I am thankful to Rob and Jen for all their support. Their passion for this program and tireless work behind the scenes is the heartbeat of the London Beefeaters.
While today I am stepping away from the program, know that my heart and loyalty will always remain with the Beefeaters.
I encourage any area coaches interested in the Head Coaching position to consider applying to lead this strong community-based Junior football program with 50 years of proud tradition.”
The search for the new Head Coach is currently underway, and the successful candidate will be announced as soon as possible.
