It is with great sadness that the EOBA annouces the passing of Dave Bemma, past EOBA President and a founding member of the Port Hope and District Baseball Association. He will be remembered by the countless players he coached and supported. Dave’s volunteerism extended beyond baseball to the Salvation Army.
“Bemzo” was a constant presence at the diamond, and not only offering encouragement and support to players, but also to coaches and umpires. His passion found him travelling throughout the province to watch local players compete. An experienced tradesman & skilled handyman, he also lent his considerable talents to helping build and maintain the equipment/facilities for Northumberland Baseball … and always performed these tasks with tremendous enthusiasm.
Dave’s impact on the history of Baseball and his contribution will always be felt and cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to know him and by future generations of local ballplayers.
A celebration of his life will be held at The Port Hope Lions Centre on Wednesday October 23rd, 2024 from 3 - 6 p.m. with words of remembrance at 3:30 p.m.
Memorial donations to the Salvation Army or charity of choice maybe received at www.rossfuneralchapel.com.
