Welcome to the Stony Plain Minor Hockey Evaluation and Team Formation process.

Evaluation Process (U9–U18)
Evaluations will begin with a scheduled skill skate, where your athlete will be assessed on a series of skill stations (the same ones introduced in the prep skate). You will be notified in advance of the date, time, and location of this session.
Following the skill skate, your athlete will be placed into a group based on their scores. You will then receive communication with the details of their next session, which will be a scrimmage within that group.
After each scrimmage, evaluators will review scores. Your athlete may remain in the same group or move. You will be notified of their placement and the schedule for their next scrimmage.
This process will repeat until your athlete’s final scheduled scrimmage. Once evaluations are complete, you will be informed within a few days of the team your athlete has been placed on for the season.
Please note: evaluators will be using phones or iPads for electronic data capture during all sessions. This may involve sliders, toggles, or typing. If you see evaluators on their devices, this is part of the evaluation process.
Parents/guardians are not permitted to speak directly to any evaluator. If you have concerns, please bring them to the division director immediately and they will be addressed.

The evaluation process is conducted by Sports Evaluations, an independent third-party contractor to ensure fairness and objectivity.

Players will be placed in alphabetical groupings for the evaluation skates. An email with specific skate times will be sent out by the division director as evaluations get closer.
Please note: U7 players are evaluated by in-house evaluators.
