NEWS AND INFORMATION - UPDATED JULY 24, 2020

ASAA will be making an announcement on high school volleyball plans for this fall in early August.  Their decision may or may not affect Volleyball Alberta's actions regarding club volleyball.  Based on the survey results school decision makers do not want athletics cancelled.  SPVC will communicate any information available as it becomes available.

We are running our beach program for those athletes who responded and accepted the participation terms.

SPVC Summer Beach Program is scheduled to run from mid July until school start up from 9 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday & Friday depending on the number of participants.

Alberta is currently in Phase 2 of the relaunch and this affects sport activities.  SPVC has a duty of care which means that public health authority guidelines, provincial and federal laws, Volleyball Canda guidelines, Volleyball Alberta guidelines, and municipal facility use quidelines must be respected and adhered to at all times.  SPVC wishes to ascertain how many participants we will have under these rules.

Within phase 2 athletes training within the same sport or performing cohort is allowed.  That means that any athletes involved in another sport or training group are not allowed to attend SPVC Beach sessions.  IF YOUR CHILD IS REGISTERED AS IN GP BEACH LEAGUE AS A REGULAR OR SUBSTITUTE PLAYER THEY CANNOT ATTEND THE SPVC BEACH TRAINING SESSIONS.

Jr. Blizzard Program 2020: we will run a program from October to December following guidance from Alberta health to safely deliver a program.  A second wave of the Covid-19 virus in the fall is a topic of discussion.  This possibility may limit our Jr. Blizzard programs.  Grande Prairie Public/Catholic school rental access is yet to be determined as well.  Again, when we have information we will deliver it to the community.

Club Season 2021: Currently there are so many unknown factors that may determine what club season looks like for 2021.  Volleyball Alberta is working on their guidelines and recommendations and we are working closely with them throughout the process.  Keep checking our website for information.  Volleyball Canada has released their Volleyball Nationals schedule.  This helps us begin to plan for 2021 club season.
