Greetings hockey families! It's almost that time! Hockey is upon us once again, and we are looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones!

We are so excited to welcome a large number of girls to the league this year, in hopes of growing and strengthening female hockey.

Prep skates have been scheduled. ALL FEMALES have the opportunity to skate in the prep skates. They are not mandatory.  Please see the groups below.

You will receive an email from Sports Evaluations with the date, time and location of your child's evaluation. We highly encourage you to attend each and every date. It is extremely difficult to evaluate your daughter if she does not attend all of the evaluations. Skills sessions will not be held as part of the evaluation process. Instead, all three evaluation ice times will be in a game format. Skills sessions are typically used to sort players based on skill, but all females will be evaluated together and grouped based on their age division, which is why a skills session is not necessary.

ALL registered females are requested to attend evaluations, even if they plan to play coed. If they do plan to play coed, let us know when you check in prior to the evaluation, so we can give your player a jersey without a number. We require all females to attend in order to fill out and balance teams for the evaluating players. Think of this as an opportunity to get back on the ice and meet some new friends!

Important Information:

*We are unable to move players across age groups based purely on requests. Players may be offered a spot in a higher or lower age group in order to fill spots or positions, but not because they want to play with specific friends

* If your child does not make the female team, she will return to her home association to play. If your child's home association is Spruce Grove, she will be directed to the co-ed evaluations for Spruce Grove.

*A player movement form is only required for females who make the team and whose home association is somewhere other than Spruce Grove

* Ice time is a minimum of one game and one practice per week

*Tiering for female hockey in Spruce Grove typically falls between tier 4 and 6, however this can change based on the skill sets of players

See you at the rink!

Best,

SGMHA is proud to host a female team in the U7, U9, U11, U13 and U15 divisions this season.

The teams may be made up of a combination of SGMHA & outside players/goalies, (only if their home assocations do not house a female team).

Please note in the registration, choose YES for FEMALE TEAM , if interested. Any females NOT from SGMHA will complete the non-resident registration form. All females interested in the FEMALE PROGRAM will go through an evaluation process to build the teams in each division. If your player is NOT a member of SGMHA, you will return to your organization for co-ed or you can seek another association with female teams.
