SGMHA FAQ'S

  • When does registration start for the 2026-2027 season?
    -Registration opens May 21st, 2026 at 6:00am. There is a late fee of $150 starting July 1st, 2026. 
    -New players do not get charged the late fee.

  • Can I pay my registration fees in installments?
    -Yes, fees can be paid by installments. You will be prompted in TeamLinkt at the time of registration.

  • My child is unsure about playing hockey. Can we try it out before we register?
    -Unfortunately, no. We cannot allow any participants on the ice without registering.

  • What is the refund policy?

  • Am I required to participate in fundraising activities for my child(ren's) teams?
    -No, families do not have to fundraise on their child(ren's) teams. Participation in fundraising for your child(ren's) teams is optional.

  • What is SGMHA's Mandatory Volunteer Requirement?

  • Do I have to live in Spruce Grove to play hockey in SGMHA?
    -Spruce Grove Minor Hockey Association  provides Minor Hockey programs for families residing  within the boundaries. 
    -All registrants must provide proof of residency to register with SGMHA.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • We have just moved to Spruce Grove. How do I transfer my child from another association?
          -If you have moved within Alberta you need to fill out Hockey Alberta's Player Movement Form and email office@sgmha.ca proof of residency.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​    ​​​​​​​

      -If you have moved from another province you need to fill out Hockey Alberta's Parent Declaration form. Please use the email office@sgmha.ca when prompted to add the Minor Hockey Association email that         you are registering with.
     -You will be required to upload  3 documents to your Parent Declartion to prove residency in SGMHA's boundaries.
     -Examples of residency documents  can be  a utility bill, driver's license, mortgage, rental agreement, etc.​​​​​​​

  • What is the Hockey Canada Shift Forward Course for Parents?
    -The Hockey Canada Shift Forward course for parents will replace Respect in Sport Parent. Your Respect in Sport Parent course will be valid until its expiry date so you only need to take the new course this season if your Respect in  Sport Parent course has expired.

  • What day(s) of the week will my child be on the ice?
    -This varies bases on the stream of hockey you choose for your particpant and their age category.

  • When are evaluations?
    -Evaluations in Community (SGMHA) program start late August or early September.

  • What equipment is required to play hockey?

  • How do I apply to be a coach?
    -In the registration, be sure to put YES or MAYBE when asked if you are interested in being a coach or assistant coach.
    -You can also fill out the coach application form. You will be contacted prior to the season starting for an interview.​​​​​​​

  • How do I register for PAC tryouts?
    -After registering for the base season in SGMHA, or your local minor hockey association, you can proceed by registering for our PAC tryouts.
