Wayland Weston Youth Cheer

The WWYC Program is designed to introduce young athletes to the exciting world of competitive cheerleading while fostering teamwork, confidence, and athletic development. Our program welcomes athletes entering grades 1-8 who are eager to learn new skills, make friends, and showcase their talents.
Through structured training and supportive coaching, participants will learn the fundamentals of cheerleading, including:
- Stunting: Safe and supervised techniques for lifting, tossing, and catching teammates.
- Tumbling: Building flexibility, strength, and coordination through basic gymnastics and cheerleading movements.
- Choreography: Learning fun, engaging routines set to upbeat music that promote rhythm and performance skills.
- Sideline Cheering: Learning cheer chants to perform on the sidelines at Wayland Weston Youth Football games.
- Teamwork: Working together with fellow teammates to achieve a common goal and build lasting friendships.
- Leadership & Confidence: Encouraging self-confidence and leadership abilities through public performances and competitions.
Our program is divided into three squads:
- Tiny Warriors – Athletes entering grades 1 and 2 in the fall
- Mighty Warriors – Athletes entering grades 3, 4 and 5 in the fall
- Junior Warriors – Athletes entering grades 6, 7 and 8 in the fall
Season Structure:
- Each squad is led by volunteer coaches and practices twice a week.
- All squads sideline cheer at one Wayland Weston Youth Football game each weekend during the fall season (Labor Day weekend through mid-November). Squads do not sideline cheer on cheer competition weekends.
- All squads will attend local competitions to showcase their skills.

Join us and become part of a team where dedication, passion, and fun come together in a supportive and energetic environment!
Registration opens April 1, 2025, for returning WWYC families and April 3rd for new families.
We can’t wait to see you on the mat!
