the behind-the-scenes reality

Unlike many corporate franchise leagues that use a cold, automated computer algorithm to randomly dump names onto a spreadsheet, we build our rosters and schedules by hand with deep intention.

Is it a perfect science? Absolutely not. There is a lot of guesswork, moving parts, and late-night puzzle-piecing that goes into this because we actually care about the experience your child has on our fields.

Here is our blueprint for this season and how we attempt to make things as fair and fun as possible:

WE VALUE TEAM COMMUNITY

We love the bonds kids and coaches form over time. If a team has played together for years, our goal is to keep them together season after season.

SCHOOL & COMMUNITY GROUPING

We group players by school and neighborhood whenever possible to keep classmates together and make carpooling easier for parents.

FRIENDSHIP MATTERS

For individual players, we do our absolute best to honor teammate and coach requests so kids can play alongside their friends and schoolmates.

EXPERIENCED-BASED MATCHUPS

To keep games exciting, teams that have played together for years will often be scheduled to play against each other, regardless of their exact grade level (depending entirely on how many teams are in the division).

TWO BRACKETS FOR GRADES 3-8

During the final week of the season, based on the number of teams in the division, we may split into two separate groups. This keeps the postseason games highly competitive and gives twice as many players the thrilling opportunity to earn the champion rings!

A QUICK REALITY CHECK FOR OUR PARENTS: lET'S BE REAL

We know sports are competitive, and we love that. We aren't trying to take away the drive to win. But let’s look at the human side of youth sports for a second.

Imagine a brand-new 5th-grade team. The coach is a parent volunteer who has never coached before. The players are all starting from scratch, and the roster was put together with just a few friend requests.

Now ask yourself: should that brand-new team really have to play against a powerhouse team that has been running plays together since preschool?

Of course not. That’s not fun for the new kids, and honestly, it’s not even a real challenge for the experienced team.

Our goal is to create matchups where teams play against equally talented opponents. While we can’t guarantee a perfect mathematical balance every single weekend, please know that every schedule twist and roster decision is made with a lot of heart, a lot of thought, and the ultimate goal of keeping the game fun for everyone.

So, if a matchup feels a little unconventional on paper, trust the process! We are doing it to keep the spirit of the game alive.
