The Berne Union Rockets dominated from start to finish Friday night, shutting out the Millersport Lakers 41-0 in Mid-State League Cardinal Division action.

The Rockets wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in just three plays on their opening drive. Sophomore quarterback Carson Kiger connected with junior tight end Bryson Stoneburner in the corner of the endzone for a 15-yard touchdown.

Though the Lakers’ defense forced a couple of turnovers early, Berne Union quickly regained control. Senior Mayson Walton powered his way in for a 15-yard rushing touchdown, followed shortly after by a 1-yard touchdown run from Kiger. Just before halftime, Kiger found Ashton O’Rourke for an 8-yard touchdown strike, giving the Rockets a commanding 27-0 lead at the break.

The Rockets kept the momentum rolling in the second half. Kiger connected with James Hocking for a 7-yard touchdown pass before capping off the scoring himself with a 2-yard touchdown run.

Berne Union’s offense was firing on all cylinders, finishing with 301 total yards. Kiger had a strong night, going 13-for-20 for 166 yards and three touchdown passes, while also rushing for two scores. The Rockets’ ground game added 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns overall.

With the win, Berne Union improves to 4-1 on the season and remains unbeaten in league play at 2-0. The Rockets will now turn their attention to a tough non-league matchup on Friday, September 26, when they travel to face Worthington Christian.
