The Berne Union Varsity Volleyball team battled through five sets on Monday, September 2, to secure a thrilling victory over Millersport, improving their record to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Mid-State League.
The Rockets came out firing in the opening set, dominating with a 25-5 win. Zuri set the tone with three aces and six digs, while Miranda Daley added four kills and four digs. Jaelyn Bycofski chipped in three kills, and Caroline McGowan held strong defensively with five digs.
Berne Union carried that momentum into the second set, taking it 25-17 behind the powerful swings of Daley and Duncan, who combined for 15 kills in the frame.
Millersport refused to go quietly, rallying back to claim the third set 25-19 and edging out the Rockets in a tense 25-23 fourth set to force a decisive fifth.
The final set was nothing short of electric, with both teams feeding off the energy from the crowd. The Rockets dug deep and sealed the victory with a hard-fought 15-12 finish.
Daley led the Rockets with a standout performance, tallying 22 kills and 13 digs. Duncan was equally impressive with 18 kills and 30 digs. Sierra Scanlan orchestrated the offense with 44 assists on the night.
The victory showcased the Rockets’ resilience and ability to perform under pressure, setting a positive tone as they continue through league play.
