Rockets Sweep Rosecrans in MSL Opener

The Berne Union varsity volleyball team started Mid-State League play with a strong performance Tuesday night, sweeping Bishop Rosecrans in three sets (25-10, 25-10, 25-23).

The Rockets wasted no time setting the tone in the opening set, dominating the Bishops 25-10. Zuri Duncan paced the attack with 3 kills, while Sierra Scanlan dished out 4 assists. Defensively, Caroline McGowan tallied 4 digs, and Miranda Daley, Lena Riggenbach, and Abbie Pugh each recorded an ace to keep Rosecrans off balance.

Berne Union carried the momentum into the second set with another commanding 25-10 victory. Daley came out firing with 6 kills and added 3 assists, while Riggenbach anchored the defense with 5 digs.

The third set proved to be more of a battle, but the Rockets held their composure to close it out 25-23 and complete the sweep.

On the night, Daley led the Rockets with 11 kills and 8 assists, while also contributing 5 digs.

With the win, Berne Union moves to 2-1 on the season and opens league play 1-0 and will be back in action Thursday, traveling to face another MSL rival in Fairfield Christian Academy.
