Reporting to: 1st and 2nd Vice President
Classification: Summer Student Full-Time (35-40 Hours)
Salary Range: $21.00 / hour
When: April 28, 2025 – August 29, 2025

Are you looking to use your baseball skills in a productive way? Have you got a knack for planning and organizing activities including practice plans, schedules, skills improvement? Looking to learn some administrative tasks?

Woodstock Minor Baseball is a rapidly growing sports organization in the City of Woodstock. Our organization is looking for a summer student to:

  • Provide on-field oversight to our House League Baseball program
  • Assist with diamond booking
  • Communicate with City of Woodstock staff
  • Support equipment and uniform management
  • Promote WMBA through various Social Media platforms
  • Assist with delivery of tournaments including 13U National Championship

Responsibilities:

  • Design a season long development schedule ensuring that each week has a strong theme
  • Prepare activities to help you get to know your players
  • Documenting and updating manuals, procedures, policies, forms, etc.
  • Prepare tools to set yourself up for success (i.e., pro- active tools for preventing challenging behaviours and celebrating player successes, tactics for developing a positive culture and player development activities)
  • Connect with families and coaches to develop rapport and adjust programming to best suit player needs
  • Model sportsmanship with players, families and coaches
  • Direct supervision of player practices, including participant experience, parent participation and equipment maintenance
  • Training, scheduling, monitoring, and program effectiveness
  • Participate in weekly debriefs to identify successes and areas for program development and to share insights and suggestions to help WMBA improve the quality of the program
  • Working with the tournament convenor, recruiting local community support for the 3 tournaments planned for Woodstock in 2025 including the 13U National Championship tournament
  • Field scheduling and related duties including pre-booking and cancellations for tournaments.
  • Umpire scheduling and related duties including pre-booking and dealing with cancellations
  • Various Social Media platform communications
  • Standard administrative duties during key operational hours such as customer service, answering the telephone, accepting payments, receiving and distributing correspondence.
  • Providing hands-on support at the tournaments as necessary.
  • Scheduling and booking of the WMBA indoor facility for various activities such as player and coaches’ clinics
  • Attend and participate in monthly board meetings
  • Administrative duties as requested

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion or progress towards a University Degree and/or College Diploma, preferably in a discipline related to Children and Youth, Recreation, Sport and/or Community Programming, Community Development or Teaching
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be physically able to perform activities common to the game of baseball
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification
  • Must have a Class G2 Ontario Driver’s License in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Love and appreciation of sport
  • Qualified to work in Ontario
  • Satisfactory Police Check for Vulnerable Sector

Preferred:

  • Training in the area of inclusion
  • Experience facilitating recreational programming for children
  • Experience facilitating workshops for youth and adults
  • Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation of outcome-based programs
  • Experience coaching – baseball preferred
  • Coaching certification (NCCP)

Working Conditions:

  • Scheduled 35-40-hour work week, which will include weekends and alternate shift hours.
  • Will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • May be required to work overtime.
