Weekend Race Format *A detailed fact sheet will be provided by each host venue the week of the race. Saturday- Giant Slalom, 2 runs total (1-1 run race in AM; 1-1 run race in afternoon) Sunday- Slalom, 2 runs total (1-1 run race in AM; 1-1 run race in afternoon) Hill 1 (“littles”) race order: Girls U12; U10; U8; Boys U12; U10; U8 Hill 2 (“bigs”) race order: Girls U14; U16; U18; U20; Boys U14; U16; U18; U20 *There will be time in between runs to free ski, warm up, use the bathroom, grab a bite to eat, etc. Athletes should check in at the top of their race hill on a regular basis to see what group is being lined up to race. There will be a parent volunteer at the top of each run calling out age groups and bib numbers helping to line racers up. Morning Meeting We meet as team each race morning. After the meeting athletes & coaches will split into groups- bigs (U14 and up) and littles (U12 and under) and head to their runs for course inspection. Team Table/Potluck When hills allow we will have team tables along with a potluck on Saturday. Attendance Other than attending the morning meeting, there is no check in process at the venue. All WIJARA regsitered athletes will be listed on the start order regardless of if they plan to race or not. Saturday night team dinner The team meets for dinner (usually carry-in at the hotel) on Saturday evening of the Chestnut and Sundown races. Parent Volunteering WIJARA races are run with the help of parent volunteers. Each team is required to provide gatekeepers at every race. Every travel team family is required to sign up to gatekeep at least once during the following 3 races (Chestnut, Devil’s Head, Cascade). As an added bonus for every gatekeeping session you volunteer for you will be entered into a bonus drawing at the end of season. We will be co-hosting at the Sundown race for the 25/26 season and therefore are NOT required to provide gatekeepers that weekend. There will be other volunteer opportunities for our travel team parents at the Sundown race. Details will be provide closer to the race.
