Head Coach

Val Johnson

Val founded the Shasta Trampoline Club in 1975. As an athlete Val won three consecutive National titles and attended two World Championships. She has represented Canada as Canadian Team coach in numerous international competitions including several WAGCs and World Championships. Val achieved the status of Life Member with Gymnastics BC in 2007, and in 2020 was inducted to the BC Sports Hall of Fame. She holds a Level Three NCCP coaching certification and shares her passion for coaching with her team daily. 


Coaching Staff

Curt DeWolff

Curt is an NCCP Level Four NCCP certified coach and course conductor. As an athlete, Curt competed in several international competitions. He transitioned into coaching and has since been a Canadian National Team coach at several WAGCs and World Championships. Curt also coached at the 2020ne Olympics in Tokyo. 


Lisa Ramsay

Lisa began her competitive trampoline career with the Shasta and has competed in eleven National Championships. In her time as an athlete, she won three National titles and attended several international competitions. Lisa has been coaching for over 20 years.


Poppy Quinlan

Poppy competed in the sport of trampoline for 13 years. She reached the senior level in both trampoline and double mini. She represented Canada at two World Age Group Championships, placing tenth on TRA in 2011 in Birmingham. Poppy holds a Level Three NCCP coaching certification and has attended several National Championships as a Team BC Coach as well as World Age Groups Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2021. 


Hannah Brown

Hannah has been with Shasta since 2012. She was a Canadian National Team Member from 2021-2024, competing at several World Cups and two World Championships. Her career highlights include a 4th place finish at the Santarem World Cup in 2023 as well as a Bronze Medal in the Team Event at World Championships in 2021 in Baku, Azerbaijan. She holds a Level Three NCCP coaching certification.


Christie Hayashi

Christie was introduced to the competitive sport of trampoline by the Shasta Trampoline team. As an athlete, she excelled with grace and technical excellence. Christie holds her Level Three NCCP coaching certificate and has represented Canada as a coach at three World Age Group Championships.


Gabby Flynn

Gabby is an active competitor and current Senior National Team Member. She transitioned from Artistic Gymnastics to Trampoline Gymnastics and has since attended several WAGCs, World Cups, and World Championships. Her many accomplishments include a first place finish on DMT at WAGCs in Tokyo in 2019, as well as winning two different World Cups (Rimini, Italy in 2022 and Santarem, Portugal in 2023). Gabby also finished third at Pan American Championships and won National Championships in all her events (Senior W TRA, DMT, and SYN) in 2023. 


Cole Nevalainen
Cole competed with Shasta for many years, representing Team BC at several Canadian Championships. He holds a Level Two NCCP certification. Cole is a dedicated gymnastics coach who brings energy and enthusiasm to the gym every day; inspiring his athletes to find their own love for the sport.


JORDAN WILMSHURST

Jordan was previously a national level gymnast of 14 years for Shasta and a National Champion with international experience. He's been coaching recreational programs for the City of New West in gymnastics & trampoline as well as the competitive team for nearly a decade.
Fun fact, he's also a part of "AirTime Trampoline Timing Systems". The company which helped in the creation of what we commonly see as timing devices on the trampolines for what's now known as your "time of flight" score.
He holds a Level 3 NCCP coaching certification. His passion for the sport of trampoline knows no bounds and the positive enthusiasm with which he teaches is infectious.

sarah johnson

Sarah Johnson represented Canada at the 1992 World Age Group Trampoline Championships in Auckland, New Zealand—competing at a peak international level. Over an 8-year competitive career, she trained with the Shasta Trampoline Team, earning numerous medals and standing out for her discipline, creativity, and dedication. Daughter of Hall of Famer Valerie Johnson and coach Aaron Johnson, Sarah grew up immersed in a family legacy of trampoline excellence.
