Purpose
M.A.B.’s youth sports are to emphasize skill development, fair play, teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, responsibility, and fun.  Each participant should be provided the opportunity to play in EVERY game and play different positions on the field.


Job Description
The Mount Airy Bantams (M.A.B.) volunteer position of a coach is intended to develop players to create a positive image of themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and opponents. Coaches need to be good role models that create a positive learning environment for the children to learn sportsmanship, fundamental skills, teamwork, and responsibility.


 Requirements

  • Complete a Background Check yearly.
  • Child Abuse Clearance
  • Attend at least one training clinic during the off-season
  • Complete (re)certification requirement annually
  • Sign and understand the Coaches Code of Conduct
  • Regular attendance to all games and practices, during the times provided by the Athletic Director
  •    Communicate program information, game changes to parents and players

    Responsibilities
  • Teach fundamental skills to the children while emphasizing skill development, fair play, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.
  • Provide a safe environment for practice and games – to include: checking equipment and condition of fields/courts
  • Conduct appropriate training sessions with skills that are age appropriate
  • Maintain responsibility for the children until they are turned over to a parent or guardian before leaving any game and/or practice
  • Report any problems with the field/court, equipment, player behavior, parent behavior, or officials to the Athletics Director
  • Abide by all official’s decisions.  There will be no tolerance for inappropriate behavior towards officials
  • Work with the Athletics Director to set practices that work with the volunteer coaches schedule, in the given times and locations provided by the Athletics Director
  • Clean up any trash and properly put away all equipment used for practices and games
  • Help with handing out and collecting all uniforms
  • Distribute practice and game schedules to parents
  • Cooperate and support the Athletics Director on all coaching matters
  • HAVE FUN! This is about the children learning and developing their skills and should be top priority.

As a volunteer coach, you are responsible for the safety and well-being of your players. Your responsibility only extends to holding practices, teaching appropriate skill sets, providing a positive role model for the children, creating a safe and fun environment, and getting information to parents on games, cancellations, and meetings.  All other matters will be left for the Athletics Director to provide to the volunteer coaches.
