Frequently Asked questions - FAQ/Season Information

Welcome to MUFC! Below you'll find answers to common questions about our fall and spring season. Please read and reach out to mortonunitedfc@gmail.com with additional questions.

Evaluations / Season Registration:

  • Evaluations will be held early June, check Facebook and the website for dates. Attendance is required even if your child only plans to play in spring.
  • Fall evaluations determine rosters for both fall and spring seasons.
  • High school boys (U15+) have a separate fall evaluation, typically in November/December.
  • Players must register by the posted date.

Stay up to date on upcoming tryouts and events via the MUFC calendar.

Practices

  • Teams practice 2x per week, with some adding a third weekly session based on the team's needs.
  • Fall practices begin mid-August and run through October, or until before the team’s final tournament.
  • Spring practices begin in early March and run through May, or until before the team’s final tournament.
  • Locations: McClallen Park, indoor facility, and local grade schools as needed.
  • Team specific practice times are shared via TeamLinkt by team manager once schedule is set prior to the season start

Practices are weather-permitting. Cancellations are shared by team managers, club email, and Facebook.

Age Format Guide

  • U7/U8: 4v4
  • U9/U10: 7v7
  • U11/U12: 9v9
  • U13+: 11v11

Teams may "play up" in a higher bracket for more competitive games at coaches’ discretion. Tuition is based on the age level played.

Red Only Training is an additional fee assigned by the Morton United Board of Directors.

Uniforms & Gear

  • New players must order a uniform kit (~$132 + tax/fees).
  • Order via TeamWorks after evaluations. Sizing samples are available during tryouts.
  • Players are responsible for their own cleats, shin guards and Adidas Metro solid red socks.
  • Ball sizes:
    • U7/8: Size 3
    • U9–U12: Size 4
    • U13+: Size 5
  • Bring a ball and water bottle to all practices.
  • Ordering link is shared post-evaluations.

Volunteer & Concession Requirements

All families must complete:

  • 1 concession shift (per family) at McClallen Park (fall and spring).
    • Head coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers are exempt.
  • 1 tournament shift for Morton Tournaments (2 shifts if you have multiple kids).
    • Only Parent Head Coaches are exempt

Volunteer Fees Options:

  • Complete volunteer hours – no additional fees
  • $75 opt-out available in advance of season
  • ​​​​​​​$125 total fee if no opt-out declared and duties are missed

Sign-up for concession hours shared prior to season, sign-up for tournament hours shared prior to spring and fall tournaments

Leagues & Tournaments

  • U7/U8 (4v4)
    • 3 tournaments OR
    • 2 tournaments + PFCU Thursday Night League
      • Thursday Night League Games mostly in Mossville, some may be in Morton
  • U9/U10 (7v7)
    • 3 tournaments OR
    • 2 tournaments + SLYSA CID League
  • U11+ (9v9 & 11v11)
    • 4 tournaments OR
    • 3 tournaments + SLYSA CID League
  • Morton Spring Cup: All teams expected to participate
  • Morton Pumpkin Classic: All teams expected to participate
  • Extra tournaments are team-optional and paid separately by participating families.

NOTES: Tourneys will be chosen by coaches and should be shared via team managers.  SLYSA League is typically 6 games over 3 set dates (Sat or Sun). Tournament weekends, teams usually play 3-4 games that weekend. Games are Saturday/Sunday with some Fridays offered in local tourneys.

Player Development Opportunities

  • Techne App: Foot skills & drills—access provided to all players.
  • Juggle Club: Earn colored bands for juggling milestones (10, 25, 50, 100, etc.).
  • Goalie Training: Held each season at no charge to Morton United FC goalies
  • Winter Training: Held at Indoor Center
  • Spring Skills Camps
  • Summer Camps

  • Teams hold a parent meeting each season to review expectations, meet coaches, and ask questions.

The mission of Morton United FC is to develop the athleticism, technical skill and mental growth of our soccer players in a positive team environment. Players will be challenged to demonstrate honor, integrity, teamwork, perseverance, confidence, competition, and sportsmanship.
