2023 Rep Teams

News Image
The Executive of the Nanaimo Minor Softball Association is pleased that we will have three exciting teams playing competitive softball this season (2023). This means that these teams will not only play locally but against other cities on the Island, Lower Mainland, and Interior BC over the season. Their ultimate goal is to advance to the Provincials and Western Canadian championships to represent the greater Nanaimo area and that’s no easy task.

The coach of the U15B team is Mike Oldfield who returns after several successful seasons with many of the same group of players and coaching staff. Mike has more than enough technical courses that he brings to the team.

The coach of the U19B team is Bryce Johnson who returns with 20 years of coaching rep girls fastpitch and softball. His team has been to the Western Canadian Championships on two recent occasions. He brings a superb coaching staff to the team to make the team most competitive.

A new team this year is in the U13A age group. It will be coached by Ryan Cochran who most recently coached a U13 house team. He is excited with a team of players new to the competitive side of softball so a huge experience awaits them. Their home field is Nanoose so people in that area will have an opportunity to watch them progress.

These players put in extra effort and raise money to support each other all year and deserve the support of the community to provide high quality softball in Nanaimo. Follow Ian Thorpe in the News Bulletin for more news about these teams.
