Island-Wide Flag Football Tournament Set to Unite Puerto Rico This April
The East Puerto Rico Flag Football League is gearing up to host its second annual Coquí Bowl, bringing together youth teams from across the island for what promises to be an exciting weekend of competition and community spirit.
Scheduled for April 18-19, 2026, at Pista Atletica de Ceiba in Ceiba, PR, the tournament aims to do more than just crown champions—it's about connecting communities across Puerto Rico through the growing sport of flag football.
"Bringing the whole island together, one snap at a time," is the tournament's motto, and organizers are putting that promise into action with a format designed to give teams plenty of playing time and competitive opportunities.
The tournament kicks off with pool play on Saturday, April 18 at 1 PM, followed by a 5-team single elimination bracket on Sunday, April 19. Teams will compete across five divisions: 11U Coed, 13U Boys and Girls, 15U Boys and Girls, and 17U Boys and Girls, plus an 18+ Men's and Women's category.
Registration is set at $240 per team (breaking down to $20 per player for 12-player rosters), following USA Football Rules. Teams will get two pool play games on Saturday before Sunday's elimination rounds determine the division champions.
With flag football's popularity surging nationwide—and its upcoming inclusion in the 2028 Olympics—events like the Coquí Bowl are giving Puerto Rican youth valuable experience while fostering the island's tight-knit sports community.
