Halifax Argos Football Club

The Halifax Gridiron Football Association manages the "Halifax Argos Football Club", which is a youth focused recreational football organization with teams in the Nova Scotia Youth Minor Tackle Football League (NSYMTFL). This organization exists to make the sport of football accessible to any youth who want to try the sport. Our mission is to demonstrate the value of teamwork (compassion and sportsmanship, focus, courage, and integrity) to the next generation of Halifax football players, and to prove that with these things anyone can achieve success.

For 2024 - Practices will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from August 2nd  until playoffs end in the second or 3rd week of November. Monday and Wednesday will be contact practices in full gear, and Friday will be in helmets, shorts and practice jerseys (or game jerseys if coaches want). Mites may only practice 2x per week.

The registration cost for us is 300 for Bantam, Peewee, and Atom, and 200 for Mites. There is also an 80$ fee from Football Nova Scotia and Football Canada which covers membership to them, and their insurance. There is also a small transaction fee for online payments. We accept cash, cheque, or credit card payments through Teamlinkt. KidSport and Jump Start are 2 funding programs you can use to pay for your registration fee. If you're going to use one of them, please let us know. If you need a different funding option, please tell us. We always want to support people to play regardless of financial barriers.

The location for all practices will be either on the Halifax Peninsula (e.g. South Commons, Merv Sullivant aka THE PIT, or Fort Needham), or at Mainland Common Turf in Clayton Park.

We provide the gear (helmet, shoulder pads, jerseys, pants, leg padding, mouthguard) except for cleats and gloves. Cleats are required but gloves are not (but players like them).
