Jr. Acadia Flag Football Program (U8 + U10 + U12 + U14 + 16U)

The Jr. Acadia Flag Football Program is a non-contact recreational flag football program organized and run by Football Nova Scotia (FNS). All age divisions will be coached by current Acadia Football coaches and players, and the goal of this program is to develop player skills using the "Try-Learn-Play" strategy while introducing competition. All players will participate in weekly skill development sessions and scrimmages, though scores and standings are not tracked. During the first few sessions players will meet their coaches, meet the other players, become familiar with flag football, and be provided their jerseys. How do the gamedays work? Each week will involve one session dedicated to practice drills, skills, and game situations, and one session dedicated to playing Flag Football games. In the past, teams have been randomly chosen for scrimmage style play on gamedays. Each game will be run by a trained referee.

What does a player need to play in the league? All players must wear a mouthguard. Solid coloured shorts or pants without pockets, as well as cleats with plastic or rubber studs are encouraged. Player jerseys, flags, and all other required equipment will be provided by the league. Wearing a shirt underneath jerseys is also recommended, as the jerseys are reversable and players may need to flip jerseys inside-out to switch colours.

What does it cost to play in the league? There is a registration fees: U8 $150U10 - 16U $220 + $15 FC membership, which includes a jerseys and flags for each player to keep. This fee also covers footballs, cones, bean bags, equipment bags, coaches training and support, practice field costs, game field costs & officials fees.

Once registered, then what? Once registration is closed we will proceed with organizing teams, league structure and assigning coaches. All players will participate in skills, drills, and game simulation practices over the first two weeks of sessions to learn the fundamentals of flag football. Following this, Wednesdays will have a skills and drills focus and Sundays will be dedicated to scrimmages.
