MYFFL | Metro NFL Flag Football League

(U10 + U12 + U14 + U16 + 18U)

The MYFFL is a non-contact recreational flag football league run by Football Nova Scotia (FNS). All practices and games are located in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) for female & male players players aged 10 to 18. This league is divided into Male and Female divisons at every age group.  Additional information is available by contacting the FNS Office.


U10 Division - For players under 10 years of age (Born 2017 and 2018)
U12 Division - For players under 12 years of age (Born 2015 and 2016)
U14 Division - For players under 14 years of age (Born 2013 and 2014)
U16 Division - For players under 16 years of age (Born 2011 and 2012)
18U Division - For players under 18 years of age (Born 2008, 2009, and 2010)


When & where does the league play or practice? It is expected that the league's regular season and playoffs will run from April 11 to June 22, with all games taking place at Huskies Stadium at Saint Mary's University (Fri./Sat./Sun.) or an HRM Turf Facility (Tues./Thurs./Fri.).

    • Friday (HRM Facilities)(Saint Mary's Univesity) U16-Open, 18U-Open
    • Saturday (Saint Mary's Univesity) U14-Womens, U14-Open
    • Sunday (Saint Mary's Univesity) U10-Open, U12-Womens, U12-Open

How many games are there a week?  During the regular season teams will typically play 2 games per weekend, however they may play 1 or 3 games in a given week if necessary. Playoffs will be a single elimination tournament. Playoff schedule will be posted at a later date.

How many practices are there a week? Teams will typically practice once or twice per week, with league expectations that they should practice at least once per week. The practice days, times, quantity, etc. are completely up to the coach(es) of each team  and is not managed by the league. Questions or concerns in regards to practices should be respectfully communicated with team coaches.  

Is the league coed? Most teams in this league are co-ed, however each age group will have an option to play in an all-womens division.

Can a player play up or down in an age group / division? The league does NOT allow players to play up or down in an age group / division.

How many players are on a team & can a player play with their friends or on a certain team? There will be an imposed limit of 12 players maximum on a team. Teams are typically formed by selecting players from the same schools and / or areas where they live depending on registration numbers. You may put a request for one other player you wish to play with within the registration form and we will try and accomodate your request, however there are no guarantees.  Players requesting to play with another player will be on a first come first serve basis by your registration date / time until there are a maximum 12 players on a team and any other players will be placed on other teams accordingly.

What does it cost to play in the league? There is a registration fee of $290 per player  which includes all the players jerseys which they keep, flags, footballs, cones, bean bags, equipment bags, coaches training / support, practice field costs, game field costs and officials fees.

What does a player need to play in the league? All players must wear a mouthguard. Solid coloured shorts or pants without pockets, as well as cleats with plastic or rubber studs are encouraged. Player jerseys, flags, and all other required equipment will be provided by the league. Wearing a shirt underneath jerseys is also recommended, as the jerseys are reversable and players may need to flip jerseys inside-out to switch colours.

AGIAN THIS YEAR......Athletes/Teams will be allowed to register as either a full team (Coaches pre-register their team) or a an individual (Players will be placed on a team). 

Once registered, then what? Once registration is closed, Football Nova Scotia will proceed with organizing the teams, assigning coach(es), providing rosters to coaches, publishing team roster / coaches lists on website and providing opening weekend practice scheduless to coaches. Once the coaches receive their team rosters they will initiate contact with the players to introduce themselves and provide team information / details. You will be contacted by your team coach(es) before the start of the league.

What if you will be applying for KidSport or Jumpstart support? KidSport and Jumpstart support can be used to offset the cost of this program. Can you register after the deadline? There is no assurance that you will be able to register past the closing of registration.

What if a player decides they don't like flag football, can you get a refund?
 -  A $50 administration fee will be applied to all refunds
 - No refunds after the 1st day of the program


9U FUNdamentals Program

This is a coed program for players born in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The program is designed to teach the basic fundamentals and skills of flag football while having FUN!  All players participate in the program skill development sessions which are typically scheduled over an 8 week period. This is not a league, however there is an end of season jamboree for all participants where players / teams will scrimmage. During the first few sessions the players will meet their instructors/ coaches on the field and be provided with their jerseys and flags. Additional information is available below or by contacting the Football Nova Scotia Office.

What are the dates for the program? 
The Dartmouth Program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 22 to June 12 at Harbour East Turf.
Dates and Times:  Tuseday & Thursday 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Harbour East Turf, Dartmouth, NS. 
 The Halifax Program will run Friday and Saturday from April 25 to June 14 at Huskies Stadium at Saint Mary's University.
Dates and Times:  Friday 5:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturday 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
How many sessions are there a week? Both programs runs two one-hour sessions per week over eight weeks.

This will secure your sport while the funding application is being reviewed.
