SCOTIA Women’s Flag League - HEr GAME, Her LEague
The Scotia Women’s Flag League is a competitive non-contact flag football league created specifically for female athletes in Grades 9–12. This league is focused on keeping young women involved in football during the fall season by providing organized games, team competition, and a fun, supportive atmosphere.
Players will compete in weekly league games officiated by trained referees while continuing to develop their football knowledge, athletic skills, teamwork, and confidence. Whether teams are made up of school friends, teammates, or community groups, this league provides an exciting opportunity for girls to stay active and connected to the sport during the fall.
League Information
Who Can Play?
Female athletes currently in Grades 9–12
League Format
- Weekly scheduled flag football games
- Teams competing in organized league play
- Certified referees for all games
- Non-contact football focused on competition, teamwork, and player development
- A fun and competitive environment for high school female athletes
Team Registration Information
Teams will not be created by the league. There will be no individual or solo registrations for this program.
All players must:
- Register as part of a full team
- Have a designated coach or team representative
- Enter the league together as a team
Teams are encouraged to organize their rosters prior to registration, as league spots may be limited.
Coaching Requirements
All team coaches and staff must complete the following requirements prior to the start of the league:
- A valid Criminal Record Check
- Completion of the following online training courses through The Locker:
- Safe Sport
- Rule of Two
- Making Head Way
- Anti-Racism Training
Additional coaching and certification information may be provided prior to the season.
Equipment
Players are required to wear:
- A mouthguard
- Athletic shorts or pants without pockets
- Cleats with rubber or plastic studs (recommended)
The league will provide:
- Jerseys
- Flags
- Footballs and game equipment
Why This League?
This program was created to help keep high school girls involved in football during the fall season while creating more opportunities for female athletes to compete, improve, and stay connected to the sport in a positive environment.
