OVERVIEW

The Captial Area Minor Football Association offers programs in the Spring and Fall seasons.  The Spring program runs from April to June.  This is a developmental flag football program.  The Fall program runs from September to November.  Our programs are organized by age in the following football divisions:

  • Spring Seaon
    • U6 is a learn to play program using the First Down program by Football Canada
    •  U8 to U16 play flag football.
  • Fall Season
    • U6 is a learn to play program using the First Down program by Football Canada
    •  U8 to U10 division play flag football.
    •  U12, U14, U16, and U18 Varsity girls play tackle football 

SPRING FLAG PROGRAM

Spring Divisions teams practice together and benefit from working with a variety of coaches from across the capital area.  Most games are played amongst our intercity teams.  On occasion, there are interlock games scheduled with teams from the other minor football associations in New Brunswick.  Teams are typically created through a draft process.

The spring season runs from the beginning of April to late May/mid June.  The start of the spring season is usually held indoors at the BMO Center dome on campus due to the snow.  As soon as turf fields are available, division practices and games are scheduled outside at one of the three turf fields, Oromocto, Scotia North, and Scotia South.  

All gear is included with the registration fee with the exception of cleats.  Cleats are not mandatory, however, suggested for safety and better mobility.  

FALL PROGRAMS​

The fall tackle program is a competitive, developmental program.  The progam helps to develop skills and knowledge building as well as strength and conditioning.   The fall tackle program includes leagues for:

  • U12 for ages 10-11,
  • U14 tackle for ages 12-13,
  • U16 tackle for ages 14-15 and
  • Varsity Girls tackle for ages 14-17.    

All teams are rostered by via a draft process with head coaches of each team gathering with a CAMFA executive presiding. 

All gear is included with the registration fee with the exception of cleats.  Cleats are not mandatory, however, suggested for safety and better mobility.  Girdles (boxer-like shorts that hold thigh, hip, and tailbone pads) are available for purchase at gear fittings, again not mandatory.

Gear fittings are scheduled at Willie O'Ree by division, usually around the first practice of the season.  CAMFA's door at Willie O'Ree is the 3rd door from the front on the side facing the parking lot.  When acquiring gear, there is an agreement in place that lost gear will require the cost of replacing the item lost.
