2024 Wiffle Ball on the Sandlot Classic

 

When:  Saturday - November 2, 2024

Where:  Rockcreek Park Baseball Fields 10:00 AM

Don't have a team?  No problem - register as a "free agent".  We will introduce you to new friends and help get your team assembled.


Format

$150 per team (6 players)

2 games pool play + single elimination tournament

Age Groups:  5-8, 9 - 13, 14 - 18, 18+ 

All players must be under the age group maximum

All equipment will be provided.

Each player will receive a shirt at the day of the event.


HOME RUN DERBY!  $20 to enter*

*You do not have to be on a team to enter

Each participant will receive 20 wiffle ball pitches from a pitching machine.  Each hit past the fence counts as a home run.  After the 20th pitch, the batter swings until 3 outs.  An out is called for any ball thrown that does not get hit over the fence (ground ball, fly ball, foul ball, strike).

The Home Run Derby will be available during the entire day and leaderboard will be updated real time onsite.

Last batter will be called before the final game of the day.


Each registered player for the wiffle ball tournament or home run derby gets 2 tickets for the 44 custom glove raffle.

There will be door prizes, music, food and lots of FUN!!!


RULES OF PLAY

Rules are subject to change up to the date of the event.

1.)  6 players per team

2.)  3 innings

3.) Home team will be decided at the beginning of each game by best 2 out of 3, Rock-Paper-Scissors

3.)  Each team will field a pitcher of their 6 players.  Pitchers may throw over hand or under hand.  The umpire will pitch to the 5 - 8 year old age group.  5-8 year old age group will get 5 pitches or 3 missed swing strikes.

4.)  No walks.

5.)  A pitched ball that hits the strike zone target is a called strike.  

a.  3 strikes = a strike out

c.  There will be no hit by pitch.  A hit batter simply counts as a non-strike.

6.)  1 umpire will be provided per game

7.)  No bunts

8.)  5 run rule per inning

a.  no run rule last inning

b.  Pool play games may end in a tie game.

c.  Tournament games go extra innings until winner is determined.  A runner starts on second base in extra innings.

9.) Pitchers hand - a fielded ball can be thrown to the pitcher for an out for first base only.

10.) No lead offs or steals

11.)  "Pegging" is allowed and must hit the runner below the neck

12.) All games will be 45 minutes or less.  If a pool play game has not yet been completed it will be stopped mid-play at 45 minutes.  Single elimination games will be allowed to finish out the inning.
