5U and 7U: an introduction to baseball
It is a developmental, non-competitive program that focuses on teaching kids the basic skills of hitting, catching, throwing, and running. Teams of 6-10 players will alternate between hitting, fielding, and other development skills each game night. Both programs run once a week on either Tuesday or Thursday (please be sure to choose ONE program) out of Wishing Well Park.
5U is open to all players 4 or 5 years old (by December 31).
7U is open to all players 6 or 7 years old (by December 31).
9U: A further development of skills
Players are introduced to scoring while further developing the basic baseball skills of hitting, throwing, catching, and base running. Players hit from a pitching machine that pitches between 35 and 40 mph. In the field, players are rotated through all positions and are given equal playing time. Teams play an inter-division schedule followed by playoffs at the end of the season. There are two games and/or practices per week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
9U is open to all players 8 and 9 years old (by December 31).
11U: First steps into baseball
Following amended rules to assist with development, players are introduced to live pitching and the concept of stealing bases, while continue to develop their basic baseball skills of hitting, throwing, catching, and base running. In the field, players are encouraged to try every position and are given equal playing time. Teams play an inter-division schedule followed by playoffs at the end of the season. There are two games and/or practices per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
11U is open to all players 10 and 11 years old (by December 31).
13U: Play ball
At this level, players learn to play baseball without developmental restrictions (although with a shorter base bath and distance to the mound). All players further develop their basic baseball skills of hitting, throwing, catching, and base running. In the filed players are encouraged to try every position and are given equal playing time. During regular season play, the main focus is on development and trying all players in all positions. During the playoffs, coaches may choose to focus certain players in certain positions.
Teams play an inter-division scheduled followed by playoffs at the end of the season. There are two games and/or practices per week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
13U is open to all players 12 and 13 years old (by December 31).
15U: Full baseball rules
Players further develop their basic baseball skills of hitting, throwing, catching, and base running. In the field, the coach decides player positions and all players are encouraged to try every position. All players are given equal playing time. House league teams are interlocked with 15U house league teams from other Scarborough leagues for league play. There are two games a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays against our own and other Scarborough area teams.
15U is open to all players 14 and 15 years old (by December 31).
18U: Full baseball rules
Players play by full baseball rules and further develop their basic baseball skills of hitting, throwing, catching, and base running. In the field, the coach decides player positions and all players are encouraged to try every position. All players are given equal playing time. Teams are interlocked with 18U house league teams from other Scarborough leagues for league play. There are two games per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays against our own and other Scarborough area teams.
18U is open to all players 15, 17, and 18 years old (by December 31).
Under Rowan’s Law, before any player can be registered with the local association and Baseball Ontario, the player, and the parent or legal guardian of the player if the player is under 18 years of age, must review one of the three age variations of Ontario's Ministry Concussion Education Resources acknowledge it has been reviewed by signing the waiver.
