Sweetheart 2023 – FAQs

Q:  Where can I view the full schedule?
A:  The full game schedule for all divisions including the brackets is available here.

Q: Why do I see only three games in my app? I thought that we are guaranteed four games.
A: For divisions with four or eight teams, three round-robin games have been scheduled; the fourth game will be played as a semi-final or consolation game. Teams will not see their fourth game in their TeamLinkt app until games have been played and standings have been determined. Visit the Schedule tab on this website for bracket details.

Q: Why are we playing a team we normally play?
A: Ringette BC's guidelines were used to create fair play divisions based on ordinals, which resulted in some divisions being split into two separate pools.

  • For U14 and higher divisions, we have to divide teams into equal pools that include strong, medium, and weaker teams to ensure fair play. If there are more than two teams from your region registered in your division, there is a possibility that you will be placed in a pool with a neighbouring team. This will result in the strongest teams from each pool making the playoffs.
  • For U12, Ringette BC requires that we divide large divisions into pools of similar strengths (a weak pool and strong pool), which may result in your team being placed in a division with a neighbouring team. This split should result in better matched competition.

Q: Where can I buy apparel?
A: Rocket Shirts PG will be set up at CNC selling a variety of custom ringette and rink themed t-shirts, hoodies, and more. Please note that while on location, they will be limited to a one-colour imprint of your chosen design.

  • To get full-colour design options, please message Rocket Shirts PG on Facebook to place your order.
  • Payment for any pre-orders can be made through e-transfer or credit card
  • If you have any questions about apparel options, please contact them directly at (250) 596-9446

Q: Is there an opening ceremony or special event we should schedule around?
A: In lieu of one special event for teams to plan around, we have arranged some fun activities at CNC and Rutland Arenas that players can participate in that include the following:

  • Scavenger Hunt: We have put together a ringette inspired scavenger hunt. Once completed, teams can submit their proof of completion to KRASweetheart@gmail.com by 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, for a chance to win a team prize. The Scavenger hunt information will be provided to each team in their coach's bag.
  • Cookie Decorating: Available at CNC & Rutland Arenas, tables will be set up for athletes to decorate shortbread cookies on 10 am - 4 pm Friday and Saturday (until supplies last)
  • Craft Activity: Available at CNC & Rutland Arenas, tables will be set up for athletes to use their crafting creativity 10 am - 4 pm Friday and Saturday (until supplies last)

Q: Will there be a coaches’ meeting and tournament rules provided?
A: In lieu of a coaches’ meeting, an information package that includes tournament rules, tie-breaker guidelines for standings, tournament expectations, etc. was emailed to all bench staff on January 20.

Q: Will teams have to provide minor officials for games?
A: Teams will have to provide minor officials for all regularly scheduled games. The HOME team must provide the Timekeeper and Shot Clock operator; the VISITORS team must provide the scorekeeper. Please ensure volunteers are knowledgeable in their assigned volunteer roles to avoid potential delay of-game penalties. Kelowna Ringette will provide minor officials for all final games.

Q: Where are the arenas located?
A: Arena names, addresses, and maps can be found on the Locations tab of our website.

Q: When will the bracket schedule be released?
A: Playoff games will be announced as soon as qualifying teams are identified, and standings can be checked on the TeamLinkt app or in the Standings tab of our website.

Q: Do all the arenas have concessions?
A: Each arena has a concession with various hours of operation. We have been provided concession hours for the following venues:

  • Rutland Twin Arena: The Champions Kitchen Concession will be open during all Sweetheart games. Teams can email info@kelownachiefs.com or call (778) 753-6066 to order team meals in advance. Click here to see team meal options.
