The past:
Sturgeon Heights CC was formed in 2012 thanks to an amalgamation between Sturgeon Creek CC and Silver Heights CC. The club (Sturgeon Creek CC) has been in existance for over a 100 years. Over the years we've been dedicated to running a fun, enjoyable and competitive recreational soccer program with dedicated coaches and players who represent the club with a tremendous amount of pride every time they step out into the pitch. "Red, white, and black on the attack!"
The present:
Currently Sturgeon Heights CC is one of the largest soccer clubs in the city. In 2022, at our AGM our club unveiled our new logo and nickname 'Spitfires' and ode to our community membership and the Canadian Air Force base which resides with in our catchment area. It ushers in a new era for the club and gives a refreshing identity for our teams. Our convenor Todd Povey has been involved in the Winnipeg Soccer community for 37 years, as a player, coach, referee and convenor. He has been an advocate for positive change in the game of youth soccer since becoming the SHCC soccer Convenor in April 2016. He currently represents the club at the SCSA and has been a past WYSA board member (director of outdoor and vice-president).
The future:
As the soccer landscape begins to evolve and change, SHCC will continue to provide a QSP program which is inclusive, diverse and most of all fun for many years to come through our dedication to following the standards set out by our governing bodies of soccer (Canada Soccer & the Manitoba Soccer Association). We will continue to support the SCSA and the St. Charles Force program and work in partnership with our fellow SCSA community clubs and board members to bring a better soccer experience to all players, coaches and parents.
