SOUTH SHORE Ball ASSOCIATION

As a non-profit baseball organization, the goal of South Shore Ball Association (SSBA)  is to provide a fun, safe, and development-focused ball experience for every player. Below is an outline of what families can expect within our organization:

1. Age Appropriate skill development

Players are placed on teams based on age, skill and commitment-level.

LEARN TO PLAY (5U)

A fun, low-pressure introduction to recreational-level baseball. The focus at this level is on building confidence, coordination, and a love of the game through play-based learning.
  • Games are played in Regina Beach or Buena Vista
  • 1 practice/game per week
    • The ball is hit off a tee — no pitching
    • No outs, no scores kept
    • Every player bats each inning and has a chance to run the bases
    • Coaches/parents may be on the field to help guide players
  • Season ends the last week of June

JUNIOR (7U) & SENIOR (9U) RALLY CAP

These divisions provide a structured, skill-building introduction to baseball, using age-appropriate rules and coaching to help young players develop strong fundamentals, grow their confidence, and begin experiencing the competitive side of the game in a fun, supportive environment.

  • Home games are played in Buena Vista
  • Away games are played in Regina, Pilot Butte, Lumsden or other towns 15-20 minutes outside of Regina
  • 2–3 practices or games per week
  • Season ends the last week of June

11U & 13U BASEBALL

These divisions offer a more competitive environment with increased time commitments to support higher-level skill development. Our 11U and 13U divisions are affiliate teams with Baseball Regina.

Evaluations are done prior to the season to evaluate skill level and ensure teams are divided equally.  The teams are entered in the appropriate league tier  for competitive play.  SSBA anticipates tiering the A level this season.

  • Home Games are played in Buena Vista
  • Away games are played in Regina, Pilot Butte, Lumsden or other towns up to 50-80 kms of Regina (A Tier) or up to 120 kms of Regina (AA Tier)
  • 2–3 practices or games per week
  • Teams participate in year-end playoffs
  • Season typically ends the last week of June

Players also are eligible for skill-based opportunities offered by Baseball Sask such as camps, clinics, and development sessions.

AA or AAA Baseball

Any player U11 and above is eligible to try out in another centre if SSBA does not offer a tier (AA, AAA) that meets their skill level. Players wishing to play AA ball are encouraged to try out with Lumsden Cubs.  You MUST register with South Shore Sabres first and contact us to express your intent to try out in another center. Then, you need to follow the other center's registration and tryout process. If you do not make the team or if your status is unknown, you MUST return to South Shore to attend our tryouts. If you make the other team, contact us and we will issue a release. If you do not make the team, let us know and you will be placed on a A team with South Shore Sabres.

All in-zone and out-of-zone transfer requests must follow the protocol as outlined by Baseball Saskatchewan.
