Expectations:

South Lyon East Volleyball believes parents, relatives, and friends have a vital role to play in both the development of our athletes and, more broadly, upholding the South Lyon East's reputation for excellence.

We know that emotions can get the best of us in the heat of competition, especially when our children are involved.

However, we ask parents to remember that the coaches have a responsibility to do what is in the best interests of, not only the individual athlete, but the the team and South Lyon East as well.

As such, decisions made in the best interests of the team can seem unfair to individuals. Unfortunately, that is the nature of team sports and we ask parents to respect the difficult decisions coaches sometimes must make.

Always remember that our coaches care deeply about their responsibility to ensure athletes receive consistent training and grow as volleyball players and individuals.

With this in mind, South Lyon East requires the friends and family of our athletes to maintain a level of decorum consistent with the highest level of sportsmanship and civility. Here are the South Lyon East Volleyball guidelines for conduct:

  • Be a fan of everyone on the team
  • Respect the decisions of officials
  • Respect other fans and coaches
  • BE SUPPORTIVE OF YOUR CHILD, THE TEAM, THE COACH AND THE PROGRAM
  • Keep negative thoughts to yourself
  • South Lyon East has good coaches in the sport. allow them to do their job.
  • COACHES ALONE DECIDE ON PLAYING TIME AND STRATEGY
  • Parents should never critique other players
  • Get involved in areas that can help the team become a stronger, more unified team
