u16aa/u18aa TRYOUT PROCESS

Welcome to Tryout Weekend.  Teams have been formed to create the most competitive games possible.  Be prepared to showcase your skill and effort in every opportunity.  All coaches are in attendance evaluating players in preparation for the draft on Sunday evening.  In addition, independent evaluators are evaluating each player for all 3 games played.  Players are evaluated in the areas of skating, competiveness, hockey IQ and puck skill.  Coaches will make player selections based on their own observations and the scores from the evaluators.  All games at Jemini Arenas (2301 Grasswood East Road, 2301).  Please keep checking the website for any last minute changes to team rosters.

 IMPORTANT – Players who played in the U18AA league the previous season ARE NOT guaranteed a spot this season.  We encourage all players to give their best effort for each and every shift they play on tryout weekend.

All 2009 born players must indicate if they wish to have their name included in the draft for the 3 U18AA teams (Screaming Eagles, Icehawks & Crunch). Some 2009 born players may wish to only be considered for the U16AA Blues if they do not get selected by the RiverKings.  In this situation, a 2009 player not selected by the RiverKings and also not selected by the U16AA Blues would return to their zone for that tryout process.  If you are unable to provide your decision at the time of check in to get your jersey, your decision MUST be given to the U18AA Coordinators (Jason Weber & Bart Arnold) by Sunday September 15th at the latest. 

The RiverKing coaching staff will select their team, from all 2009 born players, and submit this team list to the Coordinators Sunday, September 15th.  The players selected by the RiverKings will not be included in the draft Sunday evening. 

There will be an additional 2009 age only ice time on Monday, September 16th, 5:45 – 7:45 pm.  This skate will allow the Bridge City Blues (U16AA) a final opportunity for player evaluation.  This is only for 2009 birth date players not selected by the RiverKings or the other 3 U18AA teams and wish to be considered for the Blues.  The Blues staff will submit their team roster after this final evaluation skate.

Players selected to play RiverKings or with one of the 3 U18AA teams will be notified Sunday evening after completion of the draft.

The players on the Blues have the opportunity to be affiliated to the following:

 -Riverkings

- any of our 3 U18AA teams

- U18AAA

Players on the RiverKings or one of the 3 U18AA teams may be affiliated to a U18AAA team
