St Agatha participates in the Central Ohio Youth Soccer League (COYSL) that has served Central Ohio for over 30 years. Teams range in age from Kindergarten up through fourth grade. The primary purpose of the program is to provide a fun, easy-going environment for players to learn how to play the game of soccer. Can you tell me more about the league?
COYSL is a recreational league focused on introducing players to the game of soccer.
Other teams in the league include: St. Timothys, St. Andrews, St. Brendans, Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Peace, Northwest FC, and Grandview FC. The coaches are parent volunteers. Kindergartners play 5v5. Grades 1-4 play 7v7.
When are games and practices?
Games are generally on Sundays between 1 pm and 6 pm. Game locations are TBD, but are usually at St. Agatha, in Clintonville (Kenny Road Park or Whetstone Park) or in Hilliard (St. Brendan School or Paul Rider Fields). Practices are held at St. Agatha School. The practice schedule is determined by the volunteer coaches and is typically one night per week for approximately one hour.
When is the season?
The fall season games run seven weeks, from the weekend after Labor Day through the end of October. The spring season games run six weeks, from the end of March to mid-May.
Can I pick what team my child is on?
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all requests for children to be paired with specific players or coaches, but you may use a group code within registration to try to group kids together. Ultimately, it is up to the soccer commissioner to determine final team rosters based on coach availability and appropriate team sizes.
I would like to help coach. What are the requirements?
St. Agatha Parish sports require all coaches, including those from our community soccer program, to meet the same mandatory requirements as school and parish volunteers. Once completed, these one-time requirements allow you to coach or volunteer in any capacity in the school, the parish, or in athletics.
