Fencing Classes: Schedule & CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Beginner classes run for 8-week sessions.

All classes are held at the Saskatoon Field House. The training space is upstairs, in the dance studio (to your left off the main hall).

*NEW TIME: On Wednesdays and Fridays, both the Dance Studio and the Multi-purpose/Cycle room at the Field House will be used to accommodate overlapping classes. All classes start in the Dance Studio.

FENCING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

U12 Beginners

Wednesdays 6:45- 7:45 pm at the Saskatoon Field House (second floor)

  • For youth beginners who are 7-12 years old
  • $150 for 8-week session
  • All protective equipment is loaned out to fencers once a $75 refundable deposit is received

Advanced Youth Beginners

Fridays 6:45- 7:45 pm at the Saskatoon Field House (second floor)

  • $75 per month
  • Fencers will purchase their own glove and weapon. The remaining equipment is loaned out to fencers once a $75 refundable deposit is received
  • Pre-requisite: for beginner fencers who have completed at least one 8-week session of U12 beginner

Teens & Adult Beginners

Wednesdays 7:15-8:45 pm at the Saskatoon Field House (second floor)

  • For beginners ages 12 and older and adults
  • $150 for 8-week session
  • 25% discount for U of S or Sask PolyTech Students
  • All protective equipment is loaned out to fencers once a $75 refundable deposit is received

Regular Fencing Group (Intermediate and Advanced Fencers)

$100 per month for 3 days a week; $80 per month for 2 days a week

  • 25% discount for U of S or Sask PolyTech Students
  • Drop-in during the competitive season: $20 per drop-in

Equipment requirements for Regular Fencers (Intermediate and Advanced):

Intermediate fencers should own a mask, glove, weapon, and body wires. Also, for foil and sabre: mask wires and lame (electric vest or electric jacket).

Regular fencers should have their own competitive fencing gear: mask, glove, weapons (2), and body wires (2), sous-plastron (under jacket), chest protector, jacket, and pants. Also, for foil and sabre: mask wires (2) and lame (electric vest or electric jacket).

 

Private Lessons

We are very fortunate to have Provincial Coach/Technical Director John Brunning as our club’s head coach. Please speak to him directly if you wish to book private lessons this season.      

 

 

After purchasing your private lesson(s), Coach John will schedule you for your private lesson during club time. 

Payment can be made to coach John Brunning by cash, cheque, or e-transfer.

 

Private lessons are not included in registration fees and have an additional cost. They are paid to Coach John instead of the club. Each single 20-minute lesson costs $25.  

Package discounts are available as follows: $200 for 10 lessons, $270 for 15 lessons, $320 for 20 lessons.
