Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide the highest level of dynamic coaching to athletes as possible across all our programs, while fostering and growing their love of the game in a fun and motivating environment. We want to challenge and inspire our athletes to succeed not only on the court as players but, also mirror the same integrity, sportsmanship, and empathy our coaches try to instill into their daily lives.

We have continued to grow and expand at a controlled pace that benefits our players first and foremost. We don't make teams just to have a team - we scrutinize and ensure our coaches meet a high set of standands to ensure our players continually develop and have a positive experience. If we do not have a coach that can meet our standards and expectations then we will not form a team for that age class - we would rather not have a team than have a team with a bad coach.



Season Duration

Our club season officially begins with practices early January and finishing with Nationals in May. Our awards banquet is held shortly after Nationals late May or early June.



2027 SEASON TRYOUT INFO

Tryout fee is $35.00 for any one age-class session.

You are only required to register for one session per age-class; However, an evaluator may ask you to return to another session at no cost.
Athletes trying out for 16U and older should have previous club playing experience.

Regular tryout sessions for all age-classes are scheduled between late November to mid December depending on age-class as per Volleyball Manitoba guidelines.

Phoenix 17U/18U early-signing tryout open drop-in sessions (ID camps) are August 25/26. More info on these can be found below.
If you are waitlisted for one session but register and get a spot in another session, we will remove you from any other waitlisted sessions.

17UG/18UG EARLY-SIGNING TRYOUT INFO

As per Volleyball Manitoba, all clubs approved for 17U/18U early-signing must adhere to the following timeline and offer guidelines:

Aug 4:  All clubs approved for early-signing elegibility will be posted on VM website.

Aug 24 - 30 :   Clubs may offer open gyms for 17U/18U teams for identification purposes. 

Aug 31 - Sept 3:   Open signing window for all eligible athletes. Offers must be made via email starting at 12pm noon on Aug 31st and athletes have 30 hours to decide. The final offer can be made Sept 3rd at 12pm noon and allow until Sept 4th at 6pm to decide. Offer must include VM’s Early Signing Agreement Form.

Those not accepting an early-signing offer can attend regular tryouts for their age-class in December.

ALL AGES DECEMBER TRYOUT INFO

As per Volleyball Manitoba, all approved clubs holding tryout/ID events must adhere to the following timeline and offer guidelines:


13U/14U
Tryout period is November 29  - December 2.
Offers can be sent out December 3rd at 12pm noon and players have 30 hours (Friday December 4th at 6pm) to decide.
Clubs must honor any offers presented to players until Dec. 4 at 6pm. If a presented offer is rejected before that time, the offer becomes void and can be presented to another player.

15U/16U
Tryout period is December 5 - December 9.
Offer period starts Thursday December 10 at 12pm noon and players have 30 hours (Friday December 11 at 6pm) to decide.
Clubs must honor any offers presented to players until Dec. 11 at 6pm. If a presented offer is rejected before that time, the offer becomes void and can be presented to another player.

17U/18U
Tryout period is December 12 - December 16. There is an 18U tryout blackout on Sunday December 13th and no 18U tryouts are allowed on this day.
Offer period starts Thursday December 17th at 12pm noon and players have 30 hours (Friday December 18th at 6pm) to decide.
Clubs must honor any offers presented to players until Dec. 18 at 6pm. If a presented offer is rejected before that time, the offer becomes void and can be presented to another player.

ORIENTATION DAY

Orientation is normally held mid-December and attendance is mandatory for all players and a parent.
Meet your coaches, receive further club/team information, complete some forms, uniform/merchandise sizing and ordering.


Training Schedule

Team training includes practices and strength/conditioning sessions
Practices are up to 4 days/week pre-tournaments and 3 days/week after start of tournaments.

While we encourage all players to participate in other sports, 13U-15U players are expected to prioritize their volleyball training schedule after spring break and 16U-18U players are expected to prioritize their volleyball training schedule all season.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Teams are planned to participate in at least 7 tournaments including Phoenix hosted tournament, Volleyball MB Provincials, and Volleyball Canada Nationals. 13U Girls do not attend Nationals.
Select 16U and older teams may choose to attend extended travel tournaments outside of those scheduled below or in place of Volleyball Canada Nationals.

The player fee is used toward the following expenses including:

  • Volleyball Canada/Manitoba player and coach membership fees
  • All tournament registration fees - up to 8 tournaments including Nationals (based on availability)

Team fees do not include player/parent travel costs which are the responsibility of parents.
